Canadian Red Cross and RespectED - Promoting Safe Relationships & Safer Communities through Respect Education
– www.redcross.ca
Red Cross prevention education aims to stop the hurt before it starts. Our nationally recognized, award-winning programs teach kids and adults what a healthy relationship is, how to recognize the signs of abuse, dating violence, bullying and harassment, and how to get help. Youth participants learn skills that help them develop healthy relationships. Adults gain knowledge to build safer relationships within their organizations and communities. Peer facilitator and adult authorized partner programs are available for those who want to impact their own communities. Contact 1-888-307-7997 or visit www.redcross.ca

True Sport is… a national Movement of communities and groups across Canada working to ensure a positive, meaningful and enriching experience for all who participate in sport. The True Sport Movement is based on the belief that sport can help build lasting strengths in individuals, as well as healthy, vibrant communities and a more socially connected Canada. At the heart of True Sport there are four core values: fairness, excellence, inclusion and fun. It’s a Movement powered by people who want to see sport in Canada live up to its full potential.
Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD):
All stakeholders in sport should be aware of the 7-stage Canadian model of Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD). It is a training, competition, and recovery program based on development age – the maturation level of an individual- rather than chronological age. It is athlete centered, coach driven, and administration, sport science, and sponsor supported. Athletes who progress through LTAD experience training and competition in programs that consider their biological and training ages in creating plans that are specific to their development needs.
